Finding a little taste of home in far away Limache...

My French friend mentioned casually one day that his wife buys much of their fresh produce at an organic market in Limache. While the produce in Chile is fantastic, fresh and cheap beyond reason, it is by no means organic. Usually, I'm happy enough with fantastic, fresh and cheap, but lets face it. All I do in Chile is cook, and I'm probably ingesting a lot of fresh cheap fantastic chemicals, and well, I could use an adventure. So, I conned British friend with car, who misses the British affinity for organic food and fresh milk, into driving me to Limache to check out the market.

All I knew about Limache was that there is a variety of tomatoes named after the place that are fantastic and often sold at the market.... either that or tomatoes that are grown in these parts are some how magically delicous and it is worth advertising. (quiniento pesos por kilo limachitos!!!! quiniento pesos limanchitos duritossss!!!!)

What I didn't know was that there is a Waldorf school In Limache! And that's (unsurprisingly) where the organic market was!

Fresh organic locally produced fruit and veg:

School grounds:

Rabbits!

Cows!!

Waldorf!!
